An Instagram photo carries a certain artificial heft to it. There's a sense of importance, or at least permanence, to the photos we post to these accounts that you don't get from tweets or even status updates on Facebook. Instagram isn't naturally this way; it's developed this weight because everything on Instagram is beautiful. And with the addition of video, we've got a wonderful opportunity to make the platform more interesting?but we have to be careful.

One of the great joys of Instagram until now has been the lazy scroll. Fire up the app, and just swipe and swipe and swipe and passively take it all in while the colors and shapes sail past your eyes. You pause every so often to like something or make a comment, but the pleasure is never interrupted. The problem of video was apparent when, immediately after getting video, people started posting videos of their desks (a phenomenon we also saw with Vine).

Video is a different medium than photography, and if we start taking videos on Instagram the way we have for YouTube, Snapchat, Vine, et al, our feeds will become polluted with crap. Because unlike those other services, there's already something in place that we like a lot.

Here are a few simple tips to keep the quality high.

Don't broadcast, curate

People have been posting videos to the Internet forever, and the last thing we need is just another place to post videos of your view out the window while you're driving down the highway or waiting in line at the post office. Instagram is everyone's prettiest corner of the internet, free from the clutter and noise of other areas, generally just more beautiful and thoughtful. When you go back to your Instagram history it should be a museum-grade gallery of awesome.

Which is easy to say! But the message, basically, is to treat videos with just as much scrutiny as you'd use for an image on Instagram.

15 seconds is, like, an Internet eternity

This is critical. Let's try to keep our videos concise. You don't need to use the full 15-seconds just because you can. It's tempting to just sit there and record and record. Think about the terse eloquence of gifs. Don't waste my time. You don't want someone to sit there for 15 seconds and then feel pissed off.

Only post things that can lick themselves

It's a well established fact that sunsets, food, and animals are the ideal subject matter for Instagram photos. This is not the case for video. If I'm deliberately watching a video on the Internet, there better be at least the possibility that whatever I'm looking will at some point be licking something else or licking itself. If not, I'm not interested in looking at for more than one frame. That means only take videos of pets. And maybe people. Possible exceptions for food items that are at risk of exploding, collapsing, or contain moving pieces.

CINCINNATI (AP) ? An air show in southwestern Ohio reopened with a moment of silence Sunday, a day after a pilot and wing walker died in a horrifying, fiery crash in front of thousands of spectators.

The Vectren Air Show near Dayton, which closed right after Saturday's crash, resumed Sunday in honor of pilot Charlie Schwenker and veteran stuntwoman Jane Wicker, both of Virginia.

"As a pilot, you accept the fact that accidents do happen ? it's an accepted risk we take," said John King, president of the Flying Circus Airshow, which had trained Wicker.

"They were both dedicated to flying and the act. They were true, ultimate professionals," King said. "I don't know of anyone who could have done any better than what they were doing."

Wicker and Schwenker were killed when their plane crashed in front of spectators who screamed in shock as the aircraft became engulfed in flames. No one else was hurt.

Video of the crash showed their plane gliding through the sky before abruptly rolled over, crashing and exploding into flames. Wicker, performing at the Dayton show for the first time, had been sitting atop the 450 HP Stearmans.

The decision to resume the show a day after the crash was an emotional one supported by Wicker's ex-husband, said air show general manager Brenda Kerfoot.

"He said, 'This is what Jane and Charlie would have wanted,'" Kerfoot said. "'They want you to have a safe show and go out there and do what you do best.'"

Wicker, 44, who lived in Bristow, Va., was a mother of two boys and engaged to be married, Kerfoot said.

"She was a well-rounded, delightful woman who was passionate about aviation," said Kerfoot. "She was in the business for a very long time and was well-loved by the air show community; she would certainly have wanted the show to go on."

Schwenker, 64, of Oakton, Va., was married.

The cause of the crash is unclear and the conclusion of an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board likely will take months. The NTSB planned a mid-afternoon news conference Sunday to discuss the accident.

Wicker's website says she responded to a classified ad from the Flying Circus Airshow in Bealeton, Va., in 1990, for a wing-walking position, thinking it would be fun. She was a contract employee who worked as a Federal Aviation Administration budget analyst, the FAA said.

In one post on Wicker's site, the stuntwoman explains what she loved most about her job.

"There is nothing that feels more exhilarating or freer to me than the wind and sky rushing by me as the earth rolls around my head," the post says. "I'm alive up there. To soar like a bird and touch the sky puts me in a place where I feel I totally belong. It's the only thing I've done that I've never questioned, never hesitated about and always felt was my destiny."

She also answered a question she said she got frequently: What about the risk?

"I feel safer on the wing of my airplane than I do driving to the airport," she wrote. "Why? Because I'm in control of those risks and not at the mercy of those other drivers."

A program for the air show touted Wicker as a performer of "heart-stopping" feats who did moves that "no other wing walker is brave enough to try."

"Wing riding is not for this damsel; her wing walking style is the real thing," the program said. "With no safety line and no parachute, Jane amazes the crowd by climbing, walking, and hanging all over her beautiful ... aircraft.

"Spectators are sure to gasp as this daredevil demonstrates in true form the unbelievable art of wing walking," it says.

On the video of the crash, an announcer narrates as Wicker's plane glides through the air.

"Keep an eye on Jane. Keep an eye on Charlie. Watch this! Jane Wicker, sitting on top of the world," the announcer said, right before the plane makes a quick turn and nosedive.

Some spectators said they knew something was wrong because the plane was flying low and slow.

Thanh Tran, of Fairfield, said he could see a look of concern on Wicker's face just before the plane went down.

"She looked very scared," he said. "Then the airplane crashed on the ground. After that, it was terrible, man ... very terrible."

In 2011, wing walker Todd Green fell 200 feet to his death at an air show in Michigan while performing a stunt in which he grabbed the skid of a helicopter.

In 2007, veteran stunt pilot Jim LeRoy was killed at the Dayton show when his biplane slammed into the runway while performing loop-to-loops and caught fire.

Still, King said, in the four decades since Flying Circus started, many kids have been so inspired watching the show that they later became military and commercial pilots.

"Our show takes them back to the barnstorming era of air shows," he said. "It's amazing how many people have taken up aviation careers because of their first exposure to the Flying Circus."

Of course no one really expects their spouse to be perfect. We married them for better or worse ? right?

Once the so-called honeymoon stage has passed, couples begin to settle into the routines of married life. It?s at this point that some may question what happened to that sweet girl I married, or where did that considerate guy that I married disappear to? The truth is; that guy/girl that you married is still right there. If the honeymoon has ended in your marriage and your bride/groom seems different, then maybe it?s time to stop evaluating how they have changed and instead take a look in the mirror.

Have you ever considered that your partner was sweet, cute, kind, and considerate because while you were dating, you actually brought those traits out in your partner? Perhaps you too were more pleasant, more fun, and more concerned with your appearance back then, so your partner responded in the same manner. Why should this change now that you?re married? Why does the honeymoon have to end? As the marriage matures, the relationship does change in some ways as both partners become more comfortable in their roles as husband/wife, but there is no reason why the marriage relationship can?t be just as wonderful as the dating relationship. Actually, I think God intends for our relationship in marriage to be even more wonderful than it ever was while dating.

If you don?t feel that your relationship is as great as you would like it to be, then here are a few suggestions that may help. However, this is not a list for ?fixing? your spouse or tips on how to make your husband/wife a better mate. No, this list is all about ?you?, because the first step to a better marriage relationship is to first be a better spouse.

1. Pray for your marriage.
2. Apologize for any part that you played in an argument. Be quick to admit when you have reacted in ways that are hurtful to your spouse and ask for forgiveness.
3. Forgive your spouse if he/she hurts you. Forgive even if they do not offer an apology.
4. Extend grace to your spouse when they fail in some way. Try to be understanding and learn to help compensate for one another?s weaknesses.
5. Pray for your spouse.
6. Work on your own weaknesses. Be aware of your own short-comings and areas in your own life that are not pleasing to your spouse or to God.
7. Show Appreciation to your spouse for even the small things he/she does, such as taking out the trash. Express admiration for his/her good qualities.
8. Listen to your spouse and give him/her an opportunity to explain his/her feelings and then ?listen? don?t react. Try to see the situation from his/her perspective.
9. Don?t try to control or manipulate your spouse?s behavior. You have to be responsible for your own behavior and that is more than enough to manage.
10. Pray that God help you to be a better spouse.
11. Take care of yourself so you can be at your best. If you were not a super-model when you married, then of course you aren?t expected to look like one after the marriage, but your spouse deserves your best. Take care of body and go the extra mile sometimes to impress your spouse.
12. Be physically intimate with your spouse often. This includes sexual intimacy, snuggling, kissing, or just hand-holding. Don?t wait for your partner to make the move. Just get physical and let him/her know that you enjoy being close.
13. Seek counsel for serious issues. There are times in marriage that even when you?ve done all you can do to be a good spouse, there are still problems. If your partner is abusive or is involved in a sexual sin, you should seek pastoral or professional counseling.
14. Allow Christ to meet your needs. Don?t expect your spouse to be the source of all your happiness or to meet all your emotional needs. Only Christ can meet all our needs.
15. Pray, Pray, Pray.

The most important thing in creating a happy marriage is to put Christ in the center. Allow your life to be a reflection of Christ to your spouse. Learn to love your spouse with the kind of love described in God?s Word.

Love is patient,?love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.^?It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,?it is not easily angered,?it keeps no record of wrongs. ^?Love does not delight in evil?but rejoices with the truth.^?It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.^?Love never fails??
